The Rivers – Big Manistee & Pine
The Manistee River runs approximately 232 miles through the northern Lower Peninsula of Michigan, through the villages of Sharon, Smithville, Mesick, and enters Lake Michigan at Manistee. Its considered to be one of the best trout fisheries east of the Rockies. The river rises in the sand hills in southeastern Antrim County about six miles southeast of the town of Alba. These deep glacial sands provide it with a remarkably stable flow of clean cold water year round, making it a popular river for fishing as well as canoeing.
The Pine River is one of the premier trout streams in Michigan. This river is home to wild brown, rainbow, and brook trout species. Ample opportunity for fly and spin anglers! It is my favorite river to fish and work on! Due to the size of the river, I only offer single man float trips primarily out of my raft, which is set up just for small water. Its a river which will stay with you long after you leave.
