Spring 2017 Fishing

Spring 2017 fishing tackle.

Things get hairy over the long Michigan winter… Spring 2017 Fishing
Spring 2017 Fishing on the Manistee River – Fishing Report March 17, 2017
Happy St. Patty’s Day! Spring 2017 fishing is here in northern Michigan, and the steelhead run is well underway. There’s a good mix of winter hold over fish and new one’s fresh in from Lake Michigan. I expect new fish to be entering the river system daily. Fish have been found in runs and pools of “winter water.” Some fish have started sniffing around gravel on the upper river.
Beads in 8mm and 10mm size in natural colors have worked well. Clown eggs and a variety of nymphs or bug patterns like steelhead buggers and hex nymphs have also worked. If you have fresh spawn that also works. The water clarity is coming back and our flows are down from the early warm up and run off we had. Traffic has been very light, so now is a good time to fish. You can have the river to yourself or with little traffic. Thats all gonna change here soon I believe…
The water flow is 2000 CFS and the water temp is 36 degrees. I’m currently booking for March and April 2017! If you got the itch to get on the river and fish, I can take care of ya!
Tight lines, God bless
