Lower Manistee Fishing Report
The water temperature is 44* and current river flow is 2310 cfs.
Well it’s been a fun fall so far fishing on the Big Manistee. Lots of larger than normal steelhead. Fishing was great earlier in October with lots of kings spawning plenty of eggs for the steelhead to target. As we have been getting colder temps the water has cooled down a lot as well.
We are still seeing fish migrate through the river system from Lake Michigan but my bite has been a little slower due to water temperature. Still good fishing to be had though – just gotta earn it now!
Bottom bouncing and fishing floats are still a mainstay, although I’ve been fishing some plugs here and there to break up the day. I expect decent fishing the rest of November.
I offer full and half day trips this month. I carry a heater on board and pack warm lunches to make the day as enjoyable as possible in the colder weather.
