Late Summer 2018
Fishing Report, August 2018
Its the dog days of summer here in northern Michigan. The fishing on our local rivers has been excellent for a variety of species. Trout fishing on the Pine River has been very consistent. Spinning gear wise, rapalas in various colors have been affective especially on cloudy days or in low light conditions. Some grasshoppers are around for all you fly guys, and tossing hopper patterns out of a boat sure can be fun.
On the Big Manistee River, the bass and pike fishing has been steady. Been catching some nice smallmouth bass on top water baits and swim bait patterns. Pike have been active to on most days as well.
King salmon have been showing up in small numbers and I’ll be targeting those fish later this month exclusively. Early kings are a awesome fish to tangle with! I have open dates in early September, lets get on the water!
God bless, Chris
