Summer 2017. My good client and friend landed this beautiful 20 lb. king salmon on Sunday, at first light. Early mornings have been the best so far. We were casting lures into the holes and log jams. After 10 minutes and few great runs and leaps we landed her. Even was lucky enough to have my daughter Ayla on board for the trip.

Big Manistee River Fishing Report: Late Summer 2017

The salmon run has started and late summer 2017 fishing has been a blast! This last week with the recent rainfall and wind has brought us some fresh king salmon into the river system. Our water temperature is in the upper sixties but with a few cold nights, I look to see that dropping.

In other news, the fish are huge this year. Reports of 30 lb. – plus fish and even a 41 lb. fish caught in the lake has really grabbed my attention! To think of hooking something like that in the river on light tackle is down right scary!!!!

Early mornings have been the best.  Casting lures and spinners is the program. Give me a shout and let’s get after these fish! Book now here. Follow me on Facebook

Tight lines and god bless.
