Fishing Report – May 3rd, 2021

It’s spring time in Northern Michigan – what great time to enjoy the outdoors! I’ve been happy to move on from a pretty tough spring steelhead season. Low water conditions and below average run off made for some tough conditions in April. That being said, I’ve turned my attention to resident brown trout and small mouth bass.

I love the month may for trout on our local rivers. I put some trophy brown trout to hand this time of year. I specialize in crank bait fishing this time of year and with the warming water temps some days can be very productive. I also will fly fish streamers and do some hatch fishing on out local streams. Pre spawn smallmouth bass on the Manistee river can be pretty fun right now as well.

I have two rafts to fit one or two anglers. The Little Manistee and Pine Rivers are where I concentrate my efforts right now. All trips are around 8 hours through some beautiful water. If any of that sounds like something you’d be into check out my calendar on my site and get yourself a day!
God bless.
