Fishing Report: Manistee River – May 8, 2022
Spring time is here in beautiful northern Michigan! The temperatures are finally on the rise here in Wellston. Steelhead season is about over on our streams and I’ve been putting my efforts into resident brown trout fishing. May is my favorite month for trout. Water temps are on the rise and the trout are getting active and on the feed.
Plenty of opportunities for fly and spin cast anglers. I’ve seen some bugs hatching on the rivers as well. Hendrickson mayflies and caddis are popping now. If you are looking to get out and target some big browns I’d love to have you on board!
The backwaters of Tippy Dam are starting to get going as well. Pre-spawn smallmouth fishing is happening now and it’s a great way to spend the day. I have plenty of options for all anglers and ability levels.
Lets get on the water soon,
Chris
