Fishing Report: Big Manistee – October 4th, 2023

It has been a fun start to fall with very good numbers of salmon this year. I imagine the river will see small pods come up the river for a few more weeks. Most of the kings will be going straight to the gravel to spawn. I’ve started to switch gears and fish for steelhead the last week. Mostly smaller “skips” is what I’ve been finding. 

Thankfully some cooler weather and rain is in the forecast.  I’m expecting a good fall steelhead season the next few months. With the amount of bait in the water from a very good salmon run. It’s looking promising. I do have dates available in still in October and November!
